The former Barca hardman hailed the Catalan giants and has no doubts they will one again become European champions, while also asserting that they are still in the Liga title race
Former Netherlands defensive midfielder Edgar Davids has lavished praise on Barcelona and is convinced Pep Guardiola’s side will successfully defend their Champions League title.
The 39-year-old, who wore the Barca jersey during a six-month loan spell in 2004, also stressed that the Blaugrana are still very much in the Primera Division title race.
“Barcelona are not a normal team, but a team full of mythological gods. They’re on another level to all the other teams. They will win the Champions League again,” Davids was quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
With nine rounds still to go in La Liga, the ex-Juventus midfielder warned that there could be further twists and turns in store in the title race after Real Madrid saw their gap over the Catalans slashed from 10 to six points within a week.
“Madrid still hold a comfortable lead, but I believe that the league won’t be decided until the last few games. Barca will fight till the end, and a surprise could be in store if Madrid lose another game.”
Barcelona are currently preparing for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash away to AC Milan.
